The city of Salt listed on the World Heritage List

The
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities held a ceremony Tuesday to mark the
inclusion of the city of Salt on the World Heritage List in the General
Antiquities Department building. The World Heritage Committee meeting
held in China discussed the issue of the city of Salt "City of Tolerance
and Cultural Hospitality" between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (Kingdom time)
to include the old authority on the World Heritage List/UNESCO, and Minister of
Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Hamidi Al Fayez delivered Jordan's speech on this
occasion. The Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the World
Heritage Committee and the staff of the World Heritage Center, as well as the
advisory bodies and the International Council for World Heritage (ICCOUOS), for
their support and advice throughout the nomination process for the city
file. The meeting of the World Heritage
Committee (UNESCO) to approve the inclusion of the city of Salt on the World
Heritage List was attended by: Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and
Antiquities Dr. Emad Hegazin, Director-General of the Tourism Revitalization
Authority Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabayat, former Minister of Municipalities Maher
Abu Al-Saman, former Minister of Interior Ghalib Al-Zoubi, and former Minister
of Interior Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Office (UNESCO) in Jordan, Min Jung Kim, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners
of the Petra Tourism Development Territory Authority, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Farjat,
Director-General of the Plunge Authority, Engineer Rustam McGeian, and
representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and of Education. It is worth mentioning that the six sites
listed on the World Heritage List in Jordan are: Petra, Kassir Umra, Um
Al-Rsas, Wadi Rum, Diaspora. As well as the newly listed Salt city.
